AG Data-Fest – Ironman 70.3 Ruegen

AG Data-Fest – Ironman 70.3 Ruegen

I have been thinking for a while if there would be something – anything! – that I could write about that people might actually be interested in. Then I thought about what I like and what I am actually good at (spoiler: not much!), but eventually it all fell into place. Each triathlon race produces a vast amount of data and there are plenty of interdependencies between disciplines, ages and gender that it might prove an interesting to dive a…

Training Log 17/38

Training Log 17/38

This week was all about sharpening up for our half marathon on next Sunday. I´ve signed up for this run with my two mates and am really excited about it. Over the season we don´t get to do much together – one is an ultra-runner, another a fast marathon runner and myself a triathlete, so our workouts rarely connect, unless it is an easy run. Now at the end of the season we can do shit together, which is fantastic….

Race Report Cycle Tour 2017 – 100k Road Race

Race Report Cycle Tour 2017 – 100k Road Race

You know by now that I´ve been severely struck by a triathlon addiction. Maybe it is not an addiction, but a very strong passion for the sport at least. Unfortunately the tri season is frustratingly short and so I found myself by the mid of August without anything to do until next year. I was still hungry for some racing, but also welcomed the idea of easing up a bit with my training and allowing myself to have a bit…

Training Log 17/37

Training Log 17/37

Time to pick up the weekly log again, because there´s work to be done and great many things to be written about. I am currently sitting in between the seasons – my triathlon-season is over, but it is not really off-season yet. For the next 6 weeks I’ve signed up for a half marathon, a full marathon and two 100k road bike races. Doesn’t sound like a great idea to cram so much stuff into what is supposed to be…

What does it take to go to 70.3 Worlds?

What does it take to go to 70.3 Worlds?

After an acceptable start into the world of middle distance triathlon last year I was wondering what my next goals should be. I´ve never considered myself a hardcore Type A athlete, but I still like to see how much I´ve got and how far I can push myself. You could say I´m highly competitive but I´m not willing to throw my family life, my career and and my social life completely under the bus. Also, I find it extremely hard…

Training Log Week 17/36

Training Log Week 17/36

I had been slacking on my training diary. After my big 70.3 premiere I didn’t feel too much like writing and neither did I think I had much to share or to write down for later generations. This has changed, I´d like to do some more writing – and I have begun to plan the new season! The new format will mostly consist of my weekly training log and personal reflections on my progress and failures. Apart from that I…

Race Report Ironman 70.3 Florida

Race Report Ironman 70.3 Florida

Life allowed for me to focus on family and sport and nothing else for three months in early 2017 and so I figured this would be the right time to get serious about triathlon. A quick glance at the calendar revealed that there wouldn’t be a race near me around that time of the year and so I put my Lufthansa miles to good use and signed up for the 70.3 race in Haines City, FL. I arrived at my…
