Boston Blog Week 03 – Getting It Done

I can’t believe week 03 is already over! But what a week it has been. I went from „oh darn, I gotta do another boring 10k tonight“ to „I’ll quickly do my 20k long run after work“. Going in the right direction and I already hope that I don’t get sick or injured and that the weather holds up. But I am getting ahead of myself.

Monday was another rest day with some light athletic training. It feels like strengthening the hip with exercises utilizing a balance board does help. Lunges, also great to open up my chronically tight cycling hips. I believe I took another day off on Tuesday, because work was just too much that day. And because of weather, Wednesday was cross-training on the turbo, an hour easy spinning at endurance pace.

Thursday I finally went at it again, remarkable insofar as I went for a 15k run in my lunch break. Typically I’d top out at 8-10 max, but look at me go when I finally commit to a marathon. Another medium-long run on Saturday with a mate in icy but sunny conditions, a tad slower but alright.

The sunday long run was pushed to Monday, because it would have interfered with my little girls birthday on Sunday. Feels pretty dope to collect a 20k endurance run after work on a weekday without batting an eye.

The scatter looks just like it should – pushing the envelope at least along one axis. Pink dots show runs of the recent week and as we can see I pushed the long run boundary out and did not make any progress in the speed direction.

Run of the week must be my Sun-Monday long run. This was just another run, yay!

Weekly mileage: 60,89 km, which is very likely a new record for me! I am feeling pretty okay, but technically it is now recovery week. I’ll take it easy for a few and then see to get back to work on the weekend.
